Back to the Archive, Looking for Peace
Editorial profile for Magnum Photos

I developed this profile on Magnum photographer Newsha Tavakolian as she returned to her personal archive for her exhibition β€œAnd They Laughed at Me.” It combines interview and critique through hours of conversation and close reading of her work. In the narrative, I trace her evolution as a visual storyteller, in addition to the tension between memory, authorship, and the responsibility that comes with bearing witness.
