Ituri: A Glimmer Through the Crack
Published as part of MSF’s 50 Years collection
In this collaborative piece, I developed a human-centered story from the conflict-ridden region of Ituri, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Rather than focusing solely on crisis or statistics, I helped shape a narrative that holds space for both devastation and dignity—one that doesn’t flatten the people into victims, but reveals the daily acts of care, defiance, and endurance that persist in the shadows of violent conflict.
Using field reports, interview transcripts, and regional histories, I translated complex geopolitical dynamics into a grounded, emotionally resonant piece. My role involved re-structuring raw material, crafting transitions, and amplifying voices that might otherwise be lost in institutional storytelling. I brought a literary sensibility to the text while honoring the urgency and ethical clarity MSF is known for.
This article is a strong example of my editorial and narrative instincts—especially when working within multidisciplinary teams and across cultural, political, and linguistic contexts. It reflects how I approach writing as both a craft and a responsibility.
